HOME secretary Suella Braverman has left her post as home secretary after making a “mistake” surrounding sending an official document from her personal email.
Her departure, rumours of which started to surface on Wednesday afternoon, has now been confirmed.
It means two major offices of state have faced turmoil in the past week, following the departure of Kwasi Kwarteng as chancellor on Friday.
Ms Braverman herself had stood in the Conservative party leadership contest, eventually won by Liz Truss last month, but following her elimination Ms Braverman went on to support the incumbent.
It is understood that Ms Truss and Ms Braverman held a meeting on Wednesday afternoon when Ms Braverman informed the Prime Minister she was going to quit.
Ms Braverman criticised the "tumultuous time" under Liz Truss after leaving her position.
More to follow.
