FOUR exquisite and distinguished printmakers who each harness a similar passion for etching are set to host an exhibition at an art venue in Manningtree.

Ian Chamberlain, Ros Ford, Jemma Gunning and David Sully will display a series of fascinating works at the North House Gallery, in The Walls.

The friends and colleagues, from Bristol, share an impulse to record - initially through drawing – the changing technological architectural, historical and natural heritage.

Ian’s work reinterprets manmade structures as monuments within a landscape, while Ros likes to highlight functional structures and buildings which are often unnoticed.

Artist Jemma Gunning, on the other hand, specialises in intaglio and lithographic processes to document a fading cultural heritage, using acids, metal and stone.

Aquatint and chine collé expert David, meanwhile, fluidly depicts wind and water while aiming to retain the spontaneity of his quick sketchbook drawings.

A spokesman for the North House Gallery said: “It is an unusual pleasure for a gallery in the East of England to introduce a group of four printmakers from the West.

“These artists are friends and colleagues who share sensibilities and a love for the medium of etching.”

The Out of the West exhibition will run from November 12 until January 14.
