A LEGENDARY cricket commentator and broadcaster will share tales of treasured moments when he brings his new show to Colchester.

Henry Blofeld, affectionately known as Blowers, will stage My Dear Old Things at the Mercury Theatre, on November 3 from 7.30pm

During the event Henry, famed for his plummy tones and all-round good humour, will reflect on his extraordinary life through a series of eye-popping anecdotes.

The national treasure, who has also written two books and made a film, will be appearing at the city centre venue in aid of the Chance To Shine charity.

The not-for-profit organisation aims to ensure all children have access to the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be getting back on stage after nearly three years,” added Henry, who will deliver his show with his trademark charisma and warmth.

“It will be a lively mixture of making the Real Marigold Hotel and almost 50 years with Test Match Special. We’ll have huge fun and I can’t wait to see you all there.”

Simon Fielder, producer, says Henry’s show is not one Colchester cricket fans will want to miss.

He added: “Henry is a master entertainer with the energy of a man half his age. Audiences in theatres across the land are in for a real treat.”

Tickets start at £20 from mercurytheatre.co.uk.
