A TINY fundraiser who wants children with cancer to “feel beautiful” has made her mum “incredibly proud” as she prepares to donate 12-inches of her hair to charity.

Isobel Beckett, 8, who attends the Prettygate School, in Colchester, will have a chunk of her long blonde locks chopped off on November 25 at Feathers Hair Salon.

She has been growing her now lengthy mane since the summer, with a view of eventually having half of it cut off in aid of The Little Princess Trust.

The non-profit organisation creates free wigs using real hair for children and young people who have lost their own as a result of battling cancer.

Isobel was inspired to do her bit for the charity after seeing an advert in which children ring a bell in a hospital after completing their cancer treatment.

Mum Clare said: “She saw the children without any hair and said she wanted to help them because she wants them to feel beautiful.

“It started with her wanting to have her hair cut and turned into a wig for another child but then they asked her to grow it a little longer if possible.

“They lose up to seven inches in the weaving process when creating the wig, so Isobel set a date for November and decided to raise money for the charity too.

“She has always had long hair but this will leave her with a short bob – she has never had short hair so this is going to be a huge change for her but she has chosen.

“To be honest it bothers some of her relatives, who have tried to talk her out of it, but she always just says it will grow back.”

Despite her young age, caring Isobel is no stranger to taking on a challenge to raise money for a worthy cause.

When she was just four years old she took part in a 3km Santa Fun Run in aid of a clean water for children campaign after, again, seeing a television advert.

Clare added: “I am incredibly proud of her; she is incredibly thoughtful of others who are struggling and will think of ways she can try to help.”
