AN alleged drugs boss headbutted and grabbed a father-of-three just days before it is said he murdered him, a prosecutor has claimed.
Keith McCarthy, 42, is alleged to have targeted Kerrin Repman after he became aggrieved about a drugs debt owed to him.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard McCarthy spotted Kerrin, 29, outside USA Fried Chicken in Dovercourt High Street on April 12, three days before the latter’s death.
“He ordered him [Kerrin] to get into his BMW but Mr Repman did not do that,” said Amjad Malik KC, prosecuting.
“He attemped to grab him and again Mr Repman refused, he ran away from that car.

“The car briefly followed him but Mr Repman managed to get to his moped and escaped.”
Two days later McCarthy allegedly waited outside Family Pizza, in Kingsway, Dovercourt, and headbutted Kerrin.
A post mortem examination of the deceased showed he had a laceration to the right side of his nose and bruising.
Mr Malik said: “Mr Repman again got away a second time and returned home to his girlfriend.
“She could see he had a bloodied and cut nose and she describes him as physically shaking.”
It was on April 15 when the pair’s third encounter proved to have deadly consequences.
The court heard Kerrin left his family home to run some errands in Harwich and was on his moped, which he had allegedly borrowed from a drug dealer so he could sell goods.
At the time, McCarthy, of Hordle Street, Dovercourt, had driven from his on-off partner’s house with his 19-year-old son in the passenger seat.
“The prosecution say he had been consuming drink and drugs,” argued Mr Malik.
McCarthy then spotted Kerrin in Fronks Road, with one eyewitness stating he had “slammed his brakes” and performed a dangerous manoeuvre to head after him.
It was just minutes later when McCarthy caught up with the father-of-three and struck the rear of his moped, fatally injuring him.
“The threat and use of force during those earlier incidents marked an escalation of violence which culminated in that incident which he knocked Mr Repman off his moped with fatal consequences,” said Mr Malik.
