A FORMIDABLE performer will celebrate the release of her new record with a huge concert at a historic city centre music venue.
Thea Gilmore, described as one of the “finest singer songwriters of her generation”, will perform at Colchester Arts Centre on November 22.
During the seated show, audience members will be treated to renditions of tracks from her vast back catalogue of 20 albums, including the critically lauded Afterlight.
The musician, who explores the female experience through her songs, will also perform tracks from her latest EP WAS, which was released earlier this month.
The record explores history, both personal and universal, by examining the elements which lead people to make the decisions which determine our lives.
Speaking about specific songs on WAS, which is the first in a series of EPs Thea will release, she said: “The lead track, Bones delves into what it means to be a woman.
“I wanted to herald those who came before and paved the way, forging the steel of womanhood to create an undeniable and undefeatable truth that cannot be erased.
"Talking Out of Tune is more personal, an acknowledgement of how past relationships cast a shadow over the present to sound a discordant ring.”
Tickets for the 7.30pm performance cost £20 and can be purchased by visiting colchesterartscentre.com.
