THE take-up of the autumn booster of the Covid-19 vaccine is higher in north east Essex and Suffolk than any other part of England, new data has shown.

According to figures recently published by NHS Suffolk and north east Essex integrated care board (ICB), 165,000 vaccines have been administered since the booster programme was launched in September, with the head of nursing at the ICB urging people “don’t give up now.”

A total of 25,000 vaccinations were given to eligible individuals over the course of last week alone, leading to Lisa Nobes, the ICB's Director of Nursing, saying people should still get the vaccine whilst they have the chance.

She said: “We’re in a critical time for the NHS with ever-increasing Covid numbers both in our communities and hospital admissions, as well as the ongoing effects of long covid, so it is certainly encouraging that so many people have taken action to best protect their health.”

Pop-up clinics where people can get their vaccine are still available, with registration online available via bit.ly/3ermjyW.

The autumn booster is currently available for those over 65 and frontline care workers, with those over the age of 50 to be eligible for their booster in the coming months.
