TWO talented musicians are set to take to the stage of an entertainment venue as part of a non-profit gig promotions team’s inaugural concert.

The Music Mix, the brainchild of Michael Anderson and Steve Wright, will host its first show at the William Loveless Hall, in Wivenhoe, on October 22, from 7pm.

The duo, alongside a group volunteers with a passion for jazz, blues and world music, wants to bring “more comprehensive choice of entertainment” to the town.

Over the coming months, the aim will be to attract the best regional, national and internationals performers, giving residents a chance to see top acts on their doorstep.

The shows will initially operate on a bi-monthly basis, but if regular support becomes forthcoming, the events will increase to once a month.

The Music Mix’s launch night later this month will see guitarist Chris Allard and keyboardist Jim Watson play original compositions and carefully selected covers

They have joined forces with a top-drawer rhythm section comprised of long-standing friends and collaborators Dudley Phillips and Nick Smalley.

Steve Wright, former jazz curator at Colchester Arts Centre, said: "The village is already well-served musically by the folk club and the St Mary's Music Society.

“We're simply adding another dimension, so I hope residents will support our endeavours."

Tickets cost £15 and can be purchased from Wivenhoe Bookshop or by visiting wegottickets.com.
