A VIOLENT man has been spared prison despite launching an unprovoked attack which left a man with “significant injuries”.

Daniel Wade, 23, assaulted his victim, who he knew, in Colchester on January 24.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard Wade left the man with “significant injuries” as a result of the unprovoked assault.

Wade, of Harwich Road, Colchester, admitted the offence.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, but magistrates opted to suspend it for 18 months.

Wade must undertake 19 and 15 days of two separate rehabilitation activities.

He must also pay £200 in compensation and £273 in a surcharge and costs.
