A GRANDMOTHER of 17 is celebrating after her second book of memoirs is being stocked at WH Smiths in Colchester and sold around the world.

Pixie Farthing, 82, of West Mersea, had her second book, Nothing Stays the Same, published in July. Her book of memoirs is now available in WH Smith and has been sold to ex-islanders around the world.

The book is a continuation of her first book, From When I Can Remember, which was published in 2007. Her new book features many anecdotes, documenting narrative of changing times and attitudes.

On her new book being stocked at WH Smith, Pixie said: “I couldn’t believe when they said they were going to put my book on the shelves. It makes me feel so proud that they would have it.”

Pixie stated her book had been made available across Mersea Island, being sold at Mersea Art Café, the Oyster Gallery and Waldegraves holiday park.

She further stated that her son had sold the book to other countries, as many ex-islanders wanted a copy.

On plans for future writing, Pixie has said she is considering writing a children’s book about the ghosts of Mersea island.
