A MAN in Dedham has been fined thousands of pounds for failing to demolish a flint wall and clear the remaining rubble near his cottage.
Steve Brown, of Stratford Road, Dedham, received an enforcement notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 which required him to demolish his flint wall to ground level and then remove the detritus from his land.
In failing to do so, however, the 59-year-old was fined £500, ordered to pay £50 to victim services, and pay costs in £3,505.
Brown initially denied the charge before changing his plea.
His total costs came to £4,055.
