A COLCHESTER business has celebrated ten years of production, supplying packaging solutions all over the world.

Since opening in 2012, Albéa packaging solutions has gone from strength to strength, making over $1.2 b in sales in 2021.

The firm, which is based on the Severalls Business Park, has been producing 40 million tubes per month for several industries including oral care, pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries.

Albéa packaging solutions was opened on September 26, 2012, by chief executive officer Francois Luscan and Sir Bob Russell who was then the MP for Colchester.

Albéa has held a long standing presence in the city, previously operating under the name Betts, based on a site in Ipswich Road, manufacturing toothpaste tubes since 1953.

The packaging company celebrated its decade anniversary alongside several dignitaries, including Colchester mayor Tim Young.

Also in attendance were representatives from Colchester Institute, signifying a partnership which will provide quality education, professional development and technical skills through apprenticeship programs.

The celebrations were led by plant manager Peter Baxter. The event didn’t only look back at ten years of history, but to the future and how the plant will adapt and grow.

At the event, it was discussed how the plant could keep up with technological changes within the industry and constantly improve product quality for customers.
