A FOODBANK boss said the Chancellor's mini-budget will do little to help the country's lowest earners.
Mike Beckett, of Colchester Foodbank, said: "The top earners will do very well out of this. If you're earning £12,000 or less this will do very little for you.
"The changes to income tax and national insurance don't seem to effect people on this lowest income.
"Many were hoping the Chancellor would be pulling a rabbit out of the hat to help those struggling the most.
"What they've pulled out with this mini-budget doesn't appear to be a rabbit."
He added: "My experience of trickle-down economics is that in fact the money trickles up.
"The Government should be targetting help at the people who need it the most, for the poorest people who are struggling.
"People who are struggling, in real crisis, need a real living wage.
"The thing that helps people the most, and it's not rocket science, is an income they can live on."
