A RAGING motorist who engaged in a “violent” battle of undertaking on the A12 has been fined.

Al-amin Oluwanifemi Agoro was driving a Honda Civic on the A12 at Marks Tey when he was undertaken by a Citroen on April 1.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard the 21-year-old was travelling in the third lane when the Citroen shot past him in lane two.

Agoro, 21, then overtook the Citroen in retaliation before both drivers then continued to “violently overtake and undertake” each other on the Colchester-bound carriageway.

The court heard both motorists were swerving around each other and braking in an attempt to gain the upper-hand during the incident which took place shortly before 11.15am.

A witness stated the reckless battle ended when Agoro swerved from lane three to lane one while the Citroen remained in lane three before travelling out of view.

The offence of driving without due care and attention was proven in Agoro’s absence from the court hearing.

Agoro, of Corporation Road, Chelmsford, was handed six points on his driving licence and magistrates ordered him to pay £594 in a fine, court costs and victim surcharge.
