AN elderly woman was left with minor injuries after being struck by a pensioner reversing at speed in Colchester High Street.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard Michael Jones reversed an “unreasonable” distance up the one-way road in his Ford Fiesta on March 29.

The 70-year-old travelled “at speed” and, having failed to look properly, collided with an elderly woman using a mobility vehicle, causing her minor injuries.

Jones, of Porters Brook Walk, Colchester, admitted driving without due care and attention.

He was handed seven points on his driving licence and ordered to pay £404 in a fine, costs and surcharge.
