A TEENAGER who wrecked an iPhone worth more than £1,000 has been ordered to pay less than half the amount in compensation.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, caused £1,099 worth of damage to the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Colchester in October last year.

He admitted the offence at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and admitted breaching a suspended sentence he was serving at the time.

The teenager was referred to the Essex Youth Offending Service for three months and must pay £500 in compensation.
