SYNTH-POP musicians who are enjoying an “incredible renaissance” since reforming after preparing to mark a milestone anniversary with a special show in Colchester.

Fiat Lux, who commemorated their return by dropping their new single It’s You, will perform at the Headgate Theatre, in Chapel Street North, on October 16.

The two-piece, comprised of Steve Wright and David Crickmore, were a hit in the 1980s but recently released new album Saved Symmetry to critical acclaim.

Back in their heyday the band received support from BBC Radio 1 DJs such as Janice Long, Peter Powell and Kid Jenson, and appeared on Channel 4 and Whistle Test.

Fiat Lux are now embarking on a tour in celebration of their 40th anniversary, while Universal Music has also digitally released the group’s 80s back catalogue.

During their show in Colchester, the musicians will play their biggest singles, tracks from their previous records, and songs from their latest LP.

A spokesman for the band said: “Fiat Lux’s 40th anniversary tour takes a rare trip down south to Colchester.

“This is a rare and intimate opportunity to see the band known as pioneers of 80s synth pop.”

Limited tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £15 or £14 for full-time students and can be purchased by visiting headgatetheatre.co.uk or fiat-lux.co.uk.
