A FIRE has ripped through an industrial unit in Braintree causing devastating damage.
Ten crews, including ones from Braintree, Halstead, Witham and Colchester tackled the flames affecting the industrial unit of the external tyre store in Rayne Road.
On arrival at 1am, crews confirmed the unit was 20 per cent alight.
The fire service has since reported the industrial unit has been about 80 per cent damaged by the fire.
Group Manager Dave Walpole praised firefighters for getting the fire under control quickly and preventing it from spreading.
Crews remain on scene today continuing to eliminate hotspots at the scene.
They also added a full fire investigation will take place once the area has fully cooled.
