PLANNERS have given the green light for signs for Colchester’s sixth Greggs bakery.

The chain is joining the Northern Gateway Leisure Park development with a drive-thru outlet.

Last year it was revealed Greggs and Wendy's would be coming to the development.

Work began on the £65 million leisure park in March.

The development has already secured a 20-lane bowling alley from Hollywood Bowl and a Puttstars indoor golf centre.

There will also be a Cineworld and a Travelodge with 90 rooms, while restaurants Wendy’s and Greggs will now each boast a drive-thru on the site.

The 200,000 sq ft leisure development is located within Colchester’s Northern Gateway, south of junction 28 of the A12.

Colchester Council has now approved plans for six signs and drive-thru information which were submitted earlier this year.

The new site is the sixth Greggs in the city.

There are already five branches of Greggs across the city, with on located at Stane Retail Park, two located in the city centre, one in Stanway and another in St Christopher Road.
