COLCHESTER United have taken defender Kevin Joshua on trial.
The former West Bromwich Albion centre-back, who was released by the Baggies in the summer following the expiry of his contract, played for the U's under-21 side in their 2-1 win over Ipswich Town.
Joshua, who joined the Baggies in March 2021 following a successful trial, did not make a competitive appearance for the Championship club during his time at The Hawthorns.
But the 6ft 6in left-sided defender was a regular in their development squad last season.
Joshua started his career at at Dublin-based Johnstown FC in the Republic of Ireland, before moving to England.
Following a spell at National League side Solihull Moors, he linked up with West Brom.
Joshua last season had loan spells at League of Ireland club Waterford and National League North side Kettering Town, before his exit from the Baggies.
He is now looking for a new club, with the U's keen to take a look at what he has to offer.
Colchester are also running the rule over goalkeeper Kacper Danielewicz.
The 18-year-old former Oldham Athletic shot-stopper also featured for the U's under-21s in the win over Ipswich.
