A THIEF who stole £30 worth of Yankee candles has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in fines.
Lee Brown, of Greenstead Road, Colchester, appeared in Colchester Magistrates Court where he admitted stealing the luxury candles from the Hythe Pharmacy.
The 52-year-old was ordered to pay £30 in compensation, a £40 fine, a £34 surcharge to fund victim services, and £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service following the theft which took place in February.
Magistrates also deducted £209 from Brown’s benefit payments, meaning the total fine amounted to £418.
