THE Mayor of Colchester has said it was “such an honour” to preside over the city’s proclamation of Kings Charles III.
Colchester Council commemorated the accession of the country’s new King this afternoon with a special ceremony.
Led by the city’s mayor, Tim Young, the event took place on the steps of the town hall to officially mark the changeover of power following the Queen’s death.
Mayor Tim said: “The turnout from the people of Colchester was superb and it was observed with great respect and dignity.
“It was such an honour to read the proclamation and I was slightly daunted by the responsibility.
“I pay an enormous tribute to our council staff who worked so hard to pull things together so quickly and efficiently.”
