A LIFELONG collector and certified trader has opened a new shop after moving to Dovercourt.
Derek Glover’s shop Little Piece of History was initially located in Harlow but has now moved to Harwich.
Derek fell in love with Harwich and Dovercourt after many years of visiting his friend, fellow business owner Brett Hammond who runs Timeline Auctions.
He said: “I opened my shop because I wanted to give something to the community, Little Piece of History is a shop but as the name suggests it’s also a mini museum stocking real historical items.
“I hope the shop will encourage others to set up their own and increase the economic development of the town.”
Derek’s shop is not just for high end coin and antiquity collectors, he also stocks fossils, crystals, militaria, toys, books and some luxury items including jewellery, vinyls and guitars.
He added: “I am also a keen buyer, whether you are a detectorist, fellow collector or recently had a clean out.”
Harwich Mayor Ivan Henderson welcomed Derek to the town.
Mr Henderson said: “Its great to see a brilliant new shop opening in Harwich adding to the ever-growing high street and bringing prosperity to our town.”
Little Piece of History is open Tuesday to Saturday between 9.30am and 4pm in Harwich High Street.
