PRIZED pooches were out in force as a special charity dog walk took place.
Colchester’s Westie Walkers group held its westie walk event on September 4 to raise money for puppy-related charities.
The group hold a walk twice a year at Highwoods Country Park in Colchester.
There were 67 westies and 4 honorary westies on the day, with westies which took part given a goody bag and certificate.
One of the event organisers Amanda Doyland said: “We were all at our station for 11am and slowly everyone turned up, buying raffle tickets, getting their doggie bags for the fur babies and their certificates, and mingling with all the fellow westie owners.
“Our resident photographer Alice Harker was snapping away to get as many pictures as she could of all the westies so a massive thank you to Alice.
“We had a lot of new members and, of course, our long-standing members.
“We even had members come from Warwickshire, Norwich, Kent and Suffolk.”
One the day was plenty of raffle prizes, with the group saying they raised their biggest total to date in £750 so far, with £200 donated by LKA recruitment, £100 from Unite The Union, and £450 raised between members.
Money was raised for Westie Rescue UK, Dog’s Trust and Westie Advice Group UK.
Amanda added: “A massive well done to you all, especially with what is going on at the moment with energy bills.
“Thank you to the visitors centre for their hard work in supplying us with cold drinks and ice creams.
“From me personally I need to thank Shirley and Karl for their support to me 24/7. They are both a rock to me and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“All in all it was a great day and again thank you for turning up and supporting us.
“So once again thankyou and we look forward to seeing you next year.”
