A CARELESS Nissan driver who caused a collision after failing to give way at a roundabout has been banned from the roads.

Mark Neville, 39, was also uninsured and didn’t have a licence when driving the Nissan Navara in Colchester.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard on July 9, 2020, Neville caused a collision with an Audi A3 when he failed to give way at a roundabout in Gosbecks Road.

Neville, of Queen Mary Avenue, Colchester, denied driving without insurance, driving without a driving licence and driving without due care and attention when he appeared at court.

However, magistrates found him to be guilty of all three offences after hearing all available evidence during a trial.

Neville was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for one year after magistrates deemed the offences “so serious”.

He must undertake 150 hours of unpaid work within a year and pay £233 in a victim surcharge and court costs.

The 39-year-old was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 months and must take a driving test once this period has passed.
