AN outdoor clothing and equipment specialist has moved one step closer to welcoming customers to its brand new site in Stane Park.

In August it was announced Mountain Warehouse will be bringing its brand to the multi-million pound development in Stanway this month.

The outdoors retailer is due to open a significantly larger floorspace of about 10,000sq ft next to both the Marks and Spencer and incoming Superdrug stores.

It follows Mountain Warehouse departing the city centre back in 2020, with its former building now home to a Tesco Express.

The plans have moved forward this week after brand bosses submitted plans to install a large sign and lettering on the shopfront.

If approved by Colchester Council, it will mark one of the final steps to this month’s planned opening.

It means Stane Retail Park, which was constructed at a cost of £65m, is close to a full complement of retail units, with B&Q, Aldi, Cook, and Greggs having already moved into the premises.

Mountain Warehouse founder Mark Neale said: “We’re proud to be opening a store at Stane Retail Park this August, and excited to share our passion for adventure and great value outdoor gear with the Stanway community.”
