POLICE are investigating allegations that a woman was sexually assaulted by a man in an alley in Colchester.

A woman, in her 20s, reported she had been assaulted by a man in an alley in Cotman Road at around 4am on Sunday, September 4.

Essex Police say the man is described as white, aged between 18 and 25, of medium to stocky build, with shoulder-length mousey brown hair and clean shaven.

He is described as wearing a dark green long-sleeved top, green camouflage trousers, and white trainers.

A spokesman for Essex Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

They said: “Specialist officers and staff are currently supporting her and our enquiries are ongoing.

“We need anyone who was in the area and saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to contact us.

“We’re advising people in the area to be vigilant but to continue going about their daily business.
