A SUCCESSFUL farmers market is ready for its relaunch with a new regular monthly slot.

The Colchester Farmers Market will be bringing up to 25 stalls to its spot on the piazza outside the Mercury Theatre on Saturday.

The market will now be held on the first Saturday of every month following support from residents.

Everything sold at the market has been produced by the person selling, having travelled from within a 30-mile radius.

There will be lots on offer at the market this Saturday including cakes and bakes from Alex Artisan Bakery, brownies from the Essex Brownie Company, ice cream from Simply Ice Cream and bagels from Beats and Bagels.

The regular stalls will also be set up by Daymen’s Hill Orchards, Lauriston Farm, Greenacres, Colne Valley Spice Company and Myshroom.

Justine Paul, founder of Suffolk Market Events which runs the market, said: “It was great to be back at Colchester at the start of the year at its new home at the Mercury and we think this move to a Saturday, pushed by local residents, will see the market flourish even further.

“The stalls look fab on this piazza and we have a really lovely mix of local food and drink which will offer an excellent range of local produce.”

The market was previously held on a Friday.
