A HEARTBROKEN youngster has been thrilled by his community's response after residents rallied to help him after losing his wallet.

Jaiden Harvey, 12, was distraught after learning he had lost his wallet which contained £180 of savings and birthday money.

Jaiden, from Halstead, was visiting the High Street post office to deposit his cash into his new bank account.

However, the youngster was turned away as he didn’t have the pin for his new card.

Jaiden’s mum, Paula Cavender, says her son must have lost his wallet after it fell out of his bag while riding his bike home at Courtaulds.

Jaiden sadly didn’t realise until Tuesday morning and attempts to find the wallet were unsuccessful.

Paula appealed to find the wallet on social media, but after getting no responses, she felt all was lost.

But, after posting about her frustrations that it was possible someone found it, but just didn’t return it, the Halstead community rallied to make Jaiden’s day.

Paula and Jaiden received enough donations to make up for the lost cash with residents chipping in to help Jaiden.

Paula says her son was amazed by how generous the community is.

She said: “He was devastated as he saved hard for his savings and also lost his birthday money.

“ I put a message back on the page saying how gutted and upset he and I were that no one was honest enough to return it and hoped they felt guilty.

“After I posted that I had lots of inbox messages saying that they would like to donate to Jaiden.

“Jaiden and I Were absolutely overwhelmed by this.

“I tell people I didn’t put the post on there for money back, I put the post on there to make it aware that there were some people out there that wasn’t honest but anyway people insisted on donating to Jaiden.

“Jaiden had a few generous donations sent to him I then had to tell everybody else that Jaiden has received the same he lost back.

“Jaiden and I were totally overwhelmed with what the community did.

“It really goes to show that there is some lovely kind caring people out there.

“Jaiden would like to say to those people a very big thank you.

“This is something Jaiden and I will never ever forget.”
