AMBULANCES were called to Colchester's Leisure World after a person fell at height.

East of England Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called to the popular swimming pool and activity venue yesterday afternoon.

Ambulances were first called at around 2.50pm, with the Hazardous Area Response Team also called out to the scene.

One witness, who asked not to be named, arrived at the venue at around 4.30pm to find medics still on the scene.

She said: "I arrived at around to see four ambulances and an incident response van.

"I was going to go swimming but gave it a miss in case anything had happened."

She added: "[It's] awful, I really hope that everyone is ok."

A Colchester Council spokesman said: “Paramedics were called to an incident in the leisure pool, yesterday, and attended to a young person who had slipped and injured themselves in a tight space at the top of the flumes.

“Emergency treatment was provided at the scene, before the young man was brought down safely and taken to hospital.

“We have since been in touch with his family and conveyed our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.”

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called at 2.50pm on Thursday, August 25, to a patient who had fallen from height at Colchester Leisure World.

"An ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.

"The patient was transported to Colchester General Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
