TOM Eastman says scoring a last-gasp winner against Bradford City was one of the best moments of his long Colchester United career.

The popular defender marked his 450th U's appearance with a dramatic late winning goal to secure them a 1-0 victory, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Eastman has been a picture of consistency for the club since joining them from Ipswich Town, in 2011.

And the 30-year-old admits scoring a late, late winner against the Bantams in front of a jubilant South Stand was one of his favourite moments, in a Colchester shirt.

Eastman said: "It was a great feeling.

"They are great milestones for me and to end the game with a goal and a win and a clean sheet, it's the perfect night.

"I've had many good days for Colchester some would say but it's definitely right up there.

"It was a great performance by the boys and to get a last-minute goal and a clean sheet, I'm not sure you could ask much more.

"It was a great ball in by Noah especially when it mattered, in the last minute, right on my head.

"I think going up, Al-Amin (Kazeem) was telling me 'go and score Easty' and I fancied it, so it was a great finish.

"It was an unbelievable feeling.

"The fans were really good and I think the performance deserved the three points."

Eastman's goal secured Colchester their first league win of the season.

The U's had gone into the Bradford game on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Stockport County, last weekend.

"It was much needed," said Eastman, whose goal against Bradford was his first since he netted the U's winner at Barrow, last September.

"Obviously we hadn't won in the league, although we won the cup game at Ipswich.

"But we needed the league win and that's what we did.

"It was a great performance by the boys and much improved from the first three games in the league."

Eastman played his part in helping Colchester keep a clean sheet, against Bradford.

Fellow defender Al-Amin Kazeem (pictured below) was outstanding for the U's, making a vital block in the final seconds to ensure the points were secured.

Eastman added: "They hit the post and Al-Amin put an unbelievable block in to keep our clean sheet.

"His performance was unbelievable and since coming in for the Ipswich game, he's done really well.

"I wish I was as good as him, when I was that age.

"The defensive work he puts in, in a game is unbelievable.

"As a right winger for the other team, you don't get much out of him at all.

"His performances have been excellent and as long as he keeps that going and keeps working hard, I'm sure he's got great things to come."
