COLCHESTER is set for grilling as the UK's largest barbecue festival is returning to the city.

The much-loved Smoke and Fire Festival back this weekend, with plenty on offer for the foodies across the city.

Now held in Colchester Castle Park, the event had been held at Maldon’s Promenade Park for three years and attracted more than 18,000 visitors back in 2019.

Organisers previously explained the reasoning for the change in venue, saying they hoped to continue their association with Maldon, however working with Maldon District Council had become increasingly challenging on both sides due to our diverging objectives.

However, they thanked the council for their support and wished them well for the future.

At the Smoke and Fire Festival, attendees can watch some of the top BBQ chefs and open-fire cookery, pitmasters' live demonstrations and masterclasses, all whilst feasting on a tremendous variety of BBQed and open-fire cooked food.
