FORMER Colchester United youngster Sam Cornish has a new club.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who was one of a number of young players to be released by the U's earlier this summer, has signed for Wingate and Finchley.
Cornish made his debut for Wingate and Finchley in their 1-1 draw with Lewes in their Pitching In Isthmian League Premier game, last weekend.
Cornish, who spent much of last season on loan at Maldon and Tiptree, signed his first professional deal with Colchester in the summer of 2021.
He had been at the U's for ten years since under-nine level and was named in the club's first-team squad, in the 2020-21 season.
Cornish, along with Diogo Freitas Gouveia, Camron Gbadebo, Andre Hasanally, Bryan Ifeanyi, Emmanuel Martins and Tom Stagg, were under-23 players released by Colchester earlier this summer.
