COLCHESTER is not due to receive rain until next week as the heatwave and drought continues across the county.

Essex is currently going through another summer heatwave, with temperatures of about 30 degrees hitting the area throughout today and over the weekend.

The Met Office has issued a level three, or amber weather warning of extreme heat today, August 12, and over the next two days.

However, the Met has said temperatures are not expected to be as extreme as those experienced in July when new national records were set.

As many reservoirs are emptying, and other effects of the ongoing heatwave are continuing to be felt, many Britons are wondering when we will next experience rain.

In Colchester, the Met Office is currently forecasting light rain next Tuesday, August 16.

There is a 40 per cent chance of rain throughout the day from 10am to 7pm, increasing to 60 per cent between 1pm and 4pm, and ten per cent at 7pm and 10pm.

Despite this, temperatures are still expected to remain in the low 20s with cloud and sun throughout the day.
