POLICE say they are not treating the deaths of an elderly couple as suspicious following the discovery of two bodies.

Essex Police are investigating the deaths of two people after they were found at a house Fisher Way, Braintree.

The pair, who have been named by the PA News Agency as retired couple Eva and David Murr, were found at 3.40pm on Tuesday, August 9.

Extensive forensic investigation has taken place at the house.

Now Essex Police say the deaths of Mr and Ms Murr, who were both in their 70s, are not being treated as suspicious.

It means Essex Police has ruled out that anyone else was involved in the incident.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers investigating the deaths of two people found at a property in Braintree are not treating their deaths as suspicious.

“We have been carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances around their deaths.

“As a result of those enquiries, we do not believe their deaths are suspicious or anyone else was involved.

“A file is now being prepared for the coroner.”

It comes after a neighbour, speaking to the PA News Agnecy, claimed Ms Murr suffered from mobility issues and was cared for by her husband.

The neighbour added he heard “distressed sobbing” coming from the house on Tuesday afternoon, before five ambulances and three police cars arrived at the scene and the road was blocked off.
