COLCHESTER United will host Premier League side Brentford in the Carabao Cup second round.
The U's reward for their 1-0 victory at Ipswich Town is a home game against the Bees at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Colchester's last meeting with Brentford came back in 2014, when goals from Freddie Sears scored twice and Marcus Bean and Alex Wynter were also on target for the hosts in a 4-1 win.
The last time the U's face Premier League opponents in the League Cup at the Community Stadium, they knocked Spurs out of the competition on penalties in the 2019-20 season.
Second-round ties are due to be played during the week beginning August 22.
The draw was hosted by Sky's new Carabao Cup presenter Mark Chapman, with former Colchester striker Clinton Morrison and ex-Sunderland favourite Michael Gray selecting the ties.
The draw remains regionalised and like the first round, is split into southern and northern sections.
