TWO car parks in Colchester will be closed for several days this month to accommodate an annual regatta and for repair work.
The Colchester Council-run car park in Coast Road, West Mersea, will be closed from 4pm on Friday, August 12 until 6am on Sunday, August 14, due to the West Mersea Regatta.
The nearest alternative car parks include High Street, Seaview Avenue, Victoria Esplanade and Willoughby Avenue.
The regatta arrangements also mean temporary waiting and loading restrictions will also be in place in West Mersea on August 13 from 6am to 11pm, with on-street notices displayed where they apply.
St Mary’s car park in Colchester will also be closed overnight from 11pm on August 15 until 6am on August 16, to allow for improvement works to the entry and exit.
The nearest alternative car parks are Priory Street, Vineyard Street and Sheepen Road car parks.

Martin Goss, councillor responsible for neighbourhood services and waste, said: “The Coast Road car park will be closed to assist with the West Mersea Regatta, which we are eager to support.
"We apologise for any inconvenience the temporary closure causes and encourage those attending to look at our other nearby car parks and public transport options.
“The works taking place at St Mary’s car park will complete the current phase of improvement works there, which have been well received by its users.
"This phase of works can only take place when the car park is closed, so to minimise disruption to customers and nearby residents, the works will take place overnight.”
