FIREFIGHTERS battled a beauty spot blaze for more than two hours after a large woodland area went up in flames.
Two Essex Fire Service crews from Colchester headed to an emergency near Lexden Road and Church Lane, in Colchester, at 7.30pm last night.
Upon arrival, the firefighters were confronted with the sight of a burning woodland measuring approximately 15 metres by 20 metres.
The blaze was eventually extinguished shortly before 9.40pm.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.”
