THREE men have been arrested after a man suffered a serious head injury in Colchester’s city centre.

A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition following the incident shortly before 2am on Sunday in Culver Street West.

His condition has improved and he is now stable, Essex Police has stated.

A visible police presence was seen at the site throughout Sunday as a cordon was put in place while officers investigated.

A police spokesman said: “Three men have now been arrested as part our investigation into an assault in the early hours of Sunday in Colchester.

“Two men, aged 20 and 23 and from Norwich, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of GBH.

“They have been questioned and released under investigation.

“An 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of GBH in the early hours of Sunday will face no further action at this stage.”

The spokesman added: “We continue to appeal to anyone who has information on the incident but is yet to speak to us to please come forward and do so.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam or mobile phone footage of it, should submit a report online at www.essex.police.uk.”

Any report should cite incident 146 of July 24.
