COUSINS worked together to raise money after being inspired by their grandad's courage.

Hannah Gunton, 17, from Tiptree, ran the 10k Race For Life with her cousins Maggie, Ellie, Archie and Ben from Maldon and Cameron from Ipswich.

Altogether, the family have raised £4,055 for Cancer Research UK.

Hannah has raised just under £600, with £205 coming from donations from her work at the Forget Me Not tearooms in Tiptree.

Posters of Hannah with her grandad were put up in the tea room and Violet Ash florist set up a raffle to help her raise money.

Gazette:

Many of their donations came from previous clients of Gunton swimming pools, a business based in Maldon, which was owned by Hannahs' grandad and now run by her dad and uncle.

The family wanted to raise money together after being inspired by their grandad's courage in the face of adversity.

Hannah said: “He was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago.

“He is so proud of us all and we raised more than we thought we would and we are still getting donations now.

“It was such a relief when we finished the race but I’m so happy we did it.”
