Costa Coffee is set to open another shop in Colchester’s city centre.

The chain, which already has seven shops across the borough, is set to open in the former Laura Ashley shop in Trinity Square.

The clothing brand shut its shop back in June 2020 after it entered administration.

Plans for new Costa signs were submitted to Colchester Council back in May and have now been approved.

The signs have already gone up on the city centre building ahead of opening.

Last year the shop was used for as a public arts space for The Minories while it underwent a revamp.

The We are the Minories pop-up was a success and it is now hoping to open in the former Holland and Barrett shop this year.

Costa already has two branches in the city centre – one in the Odeon in Head Street and one in Lion Walk.

Its shop in Culver Square, which was the first ever for the brand in Colchester, shut over the pandemic.
