Homeowners across Colchester have been warned of potential delays to bin collections.
An “amber” extreme heat warning is in place for much of England and Wales on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
In Colchester temperatures are expected to be 24C on Sunday, 32C on Monday and 31C on Tuesday.
The warning says the weather could cause health problems across the population, not just among people vulnerable to extreme heat, leading to potentially serious illness or danger to life.
Colchester Council has confirmed bin collections are running as normal but could be disrupted in the hot weather.
Some collections may be postponed if conditions become too dangerous for workers.
A spokesman said: "We're working as hard as we can to ensure bin collections run as normal despite the current and forecasted extreme weather conditions.
"However, there may be some disruption to our rubbish and recycling collections if it becomes too dangerous for our crews to continue to work in the severe heat.
"If a bin collection is missed, we will notify residents through our social media channels and publish details on our website."
