A DISCOUNT retailer says it will create jobs in Maldon after announcing a new store will open next month.
Quality Discounts - QD - is set to open its new shop on High Street in the town at the end of August.
The retailer, which sells discounted home, gardening, pet, furniture and food items, says the shop will create 16 new jobs,
QD is recruiting full and part-time sales assistants, supervisors and managers from the Maldon area.
Nick Rubins, CEO of the QD Group, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new store in Maldon and employing local staff.
“QD has been a family-run business for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing this ethos in our Maldon store.
“We can’t wait to open our doors and show customers our fantastic value, excellent quality and ever-changing spectacular new deals.”
QD is a high street discount retailer which also has Essex outlets in Clacton, Halstead, Saffron Walden and Basildon.
The Maldon shop is part of the QD Group, which is East Anglia’s largest chain of high street value retail outlets.
There are currently 29 QD stores across the country.
The group also run the Cherry Lane Garden Centres, with one based in Braintree.
