FUEL price protestors are set to stage their third 'rolling roadblock' on the A12 at Colchester next week.

A six-strong group of motorists joined the A12 at Colchester’s Community Stadium at 7am on Monday.

Slowing to 20mph, the group brought traffic to a crawl as they staged their protest flanked by a police escort.

The protest caused around ten miles of tailbacks according to one participant.

The Essex/Suffolk Fuel Price Protest group is set to stage its third 'traffic slow down' from the same location on Friday, July 22, at 7am.

On Monday, one of the protesters said: "It is about the price of fuel and trying to make a nuisance of ourselves. Maybe the Government will take notice."

But many have voiced displeasure over the methods used to promote the cause.

One HGV driver, caught in the delays on Monday, told BBC Essex: "I'm on a time limit, my boss has to pay my fuel bill.

"The slower I go, the more fuel I use. [The protest] is not doing anything, it really isn't.

"They're using fuel to protest and they're whinging about the cost of fuel.

"It's horrendous, fuel costs, but they're not helping."
