ADVICE has been released for the week ahead with temperatures expected to exceed 30C in the coming days.

The Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (SNEEICS) has urged people to take precautions and look out for the others to minimise the risks of sunstroke and dehydration, particularly during the afternoon when temperatures reach their peak.

For children particularly, Colchester GP Dr Hasan Chowhan said parents and carers should ensure babies are kept cool.

He said: “Babies less than six months should be kept out of direct sunlight and older infants should also be kept out of the sun as much as possible.

“Attach a sunshade to your baby’s pushchair, make sure your child wears a sunhat and apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to your baby’s skin.

“And please remember, if you use an asthma inhaler don’t leave it in direct sunlight or somewhere it could get hot, such as a car glove box.

"This could prevent it working properly.”

Chairman of NHS West Suffolk CCG added people should be aware of dehydration symptoms, which include sluggishness, confusion, dizziness and dark urine.
