COLCHESTER United goalkeeper Shamal George has been linked with a move to Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

The Scottish side have made a bid for the U's shot-stopper, according to transfer journalist Pete O'Rourke.

George has impressed since joining Colchester as a free agent in August 2020, after leaving Premier League giants Liverpool.

The 24-year-old made 32 appearances for Colchester last season and was voted Colchester's 2021-22 Player of the Year by fans.

He also landed the CUSA Home Player of the Year award, after an impressive season between the sticks where he helped his side keep eight clean sheets.

Colchester took up an option in May to extend George's contract for another season.

But the arrival of Sam Hornby from Bradford City last month led to some fans wondering whether or not he had been signed as a replacement for George.

Livingston already have a Colchester connection, with Frank Nouble's brother, Joel, currently on their books.

Speaking last week, boss Wayne Brown said the U's are 'prepared' for any bids they might receive for their top players.

He said: “The window is open until the early part of September, so there’s a lot of weeks left and at any stage, someone can pick the phone up and make a bid.

“So you have to be prepared for that because that can happen, at any time."
