RACE for Life Colchester is back, as the city’s residents don their best pink outfits and lace up their running shoes in order to raise money in the fight against cancer.

The annual event allows runners to remember loved ones who died due to the disease and spread awareness.

Runners will complete a 5k lap of Lower Castle Park, on Sunday, July 10 setting off at 11am.

They will undertake a scenic route which follows the river, as well as historic views of the Castle and Roman walls.

Last year's remarkable efforts raised an impressive £64,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Runners of all ages, sizes and genders are set to play their part in the fight against cancer as Castle Park will be flooded in a vibrant sea of pink.

Entries are still open, and event organisers encourage more people to sign up and unite for the purpose of raising vital funds for life-saving research.

Spectators are also encouraged, as a way of generating an inspiring and uplifting atmosphere to spur on the runners during their 5k.
