FORMER Colchester United loanee Jake Turner has signed for League Two newcomers Gillingham on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old, who left Newcastle United after three years last month, has linked up with the Gills on a free transfer.
He will compete for the Gills number one shirt with Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who joined them on a season-long loan deal from Charlton Athletic earlier this week.

Welcome to the club, Jake.
Turner made 14 league and cup appearances for Colchester in the first half of last season following his loan move from Newcastle, last summer.
He got his opportunity in the U's first team following Shamal George's rib injury against Stevenage, last November.

Turner returned to Newcastle following the completion of his loan spell at Colchester, in January.
The former Morecambe shot-stopper did not play a senior competitive game for the Magpies after signing for them from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2019.
