FORMER Colchester United midfielder George Moncur has signed for Leyton Orient.

Moncur, who memorably scored the vital goal against Preston North End to keep the U's in League One on the final day of the 2014-15 season, has signed for the O's on a three-year-deal from Hull City, for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old midfielder, whose older brother Freddy is a former Orient player, says he is glad to get the deal done.

Moncur told the Leyton Orient website: "I'm overwhelmed and so happy to be back home.

"My family live in Loughton so it's very close to my heart. It's brilliant for me.

"I'm a very happy guy, but this for me couldn't get any better.

"I can't wait to get my boots on and get on the pitch to help the boys, and show everyone just what I can do.

"Leyton Orient is a massive football club, and for everyone involved, this fits all around. I cannot wait to get going.

"Everything about this club, the manager, the staff that I've met, it just seems like a perfect fit.

"I can't wait to meet the boys and get working for the season ahead."

Moncur made nearly 100 league and cup appearances for Colchester after joining them from West Ham United, in the summer of 2014.

He left the U's in June, 2016 to join Barnsley for a six-figure fee, following Colchester's relegation to League Two.

Moncur went on to play for Luton Town and Hull City, in the Championship.
