The owners of a chip shop have spoken of their surprise after two very famous faces made a visit to their shop.

The legendary Jacksons paid a visit Burnham at the weekend.

Tito and Jackie had been in the district while performing at the Fantasia show in Promenade Park.

Many members of the public noticed them in the area and customers at the Jolly Fryer kept it cool as they exchanged looks after they recognised the stars.

Liz Silk, who runs the Jolly Fryer with her husband, described the moment that she realised the legends she grew up listening to, were ordering a cod and chips in her shop.

Ms Silk said they had made the decision to go down to Burnham because they wanted to go to a quaint village where they hoped to not get recognised.

She said: “I asked him, has nobody ever told you that you’re the spitting image of Tito?

“I told him that he could earn some money as a lookalike.

“He took a bag and signed it and gave it to us behind the desk and I said oh my god you are him, aren’t you? He smiled and said yes ma’am.

“He told me that he normally wears a hat, so people don’t recognise him.”

Liz kept it cool as she served him cod and chips and didn’t make a big deal out of it to the customers around them.

Tito left with his cod and chips and, 20 minutes later, Jackie Jackson came in and ordered two lots of cod and chips.

Ms Silk said: “Obviously they liked their cod and chips as they came back for more.

“It was funny actually and surreal, they are multimillion pound stars and they’ve come to our fish and chip shop.

“A few years ago, we had Seun Wilson, who played Martin Platt in Corrie come in and he’s been in a few times and he used to be our claim to fame.

“Burnham has some lovely places to eat so I was proud that out of anywhere they could have picked they came here.”

The Jacksons were picked up at 7pm to go to Maldon Promenade Park to headline the Fantasia show that evening.
